The 2025 State of the Community Report has been commissioned in order to improve the health and well-being of the entire Gunnison County community. The 2022 State of the Community Report guided decisions made by organizations about where important investments were needed to build a healthier community. The 2022 report also highlighted some uncomfortable truths about life in the Gunnison Valley and the unique challenges our isolated community faces, which must be confronted.
The 2025 State of the Community Report is jointly commissioned by the Gunnison County Community Health Coalition members: Gunnison County Health and Human Services, The GVH Foundation, Juvenile Services, Adult Protective Services, Gunnison Valley Family Physicians, and Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley. The report will examine publicly available data about everything from food security and housing to mental health and substance use and abuse in the Gunnison Valley. Conversations with real people living in our community provided context for the data and helped inform recommendations.
The Health Coalition would like to thank Crested Butte Mountain Resort and Vail Resort’s EpicPromise for supporting this important community effort to better understand our community’s challenges and how to collectively address them. Together, we can build a stronger Gunnison Valley.
