Triple Point specializes in developing custom economic models, financial plans, and complex data analysis. Focus areas are renewable energy, sustainable tourism, affordable housing, health assessments, finance, and environment. Triple Point Strategic Consulting was founded in 2013 by Jeff Moffett who earned his M.S. in Econometrics and Ph.D. in Applied Statistics at the University of Washington, Seattle.

Triple Point is active across the western United States and Canada

Recent projects include creating a model of the State of Nevada’s tourist economy., estimating the economic impacts of numerous utility-scale solar facilities across the west, conducting a six-county housing impact study in western Colorado, an economic model of Lake Tahoe’s $11 billion economy, creating a financial model to implement the Aspen School District’s housing strategy, preparing a large-scale economic development plan within the Navajo Nation, and conducting municipal financial forecasting of many ski resort communities.

Jeff Moffett

Jeff has over thirty years of experience working in the fields of economic analysis, resource allocation, business development, and data-driven marketing. Jeff has conducted many economic assessments.
As an undergraduate in the late 1980s, Jeff studied forestry in Nepal and later moved to Nepal to teach school. Throughout the 1990s, Jeff developed economic forecast models to simulate forest management plans for balancing wildlife habitat and timber production objectives across the Pacific Northwest.

After transitioning to the ski industry, Jeff worked for Crested Butte Mountain Resort holding positions in marketing, pricing, and air service development. He negotiated schedules and subsidy contracts with all major U.S. airlines. Jeff forecasted flight revenue, skier visits, and other business operating metrics.

In 2013, Jeff founded Triple Point Strategic Consulting to provide marketing, strategic planning, and economic analysis services. Focus areas are renewable energy, sustainable tourism, affordable housing, health assessments, finance, and environment.

Jeff earned his M.S. in Econometrics and Ph.D. in Applied Statistics at the University of Washington, Seattle. Jeff has served on many boards including KBUT Radio as president, Crested Butte Nordic as treasurer, Gunnison Crested Butte Air Alliance as treasurer, and the Gunnison Crested Butte Tourism Association as president. Jeff is currently the treasurer of the Gold Basin Road Association in Saguache County and president of the West Elk Hockey Association.

Nathan Perry

Nathan Perry

Nathan Perry, Ph.D., is a Professor of Economics at Colorado Mesa University. His research interests include regional economics, macroeconomics, and money and banking. He has conducted several regional economic studies on the Western Slope, including economic impact studies, public land studies, and energy studies, and has published academic work on deficits and debt, inflation, and the Great Depression. Dr. Perry writes quarterly economic newsletters for Mesa, Montrose, and Delta Counties, and semi-annual newsletters for Garfield, Rio Blanco, Moffat, and Routt Counties, and a yearly economic newsletter for Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. Dr. Perry regularly presents on the economic conditions of the Western Slope and the national economy. He serves on the Governor’s Revenue estimating Advisory Committee (GREAC), and teaches Money and Banking, Econometrics, and Macroeconomics.

Christie Riebe

Christie Riebe

Christie Riebe is a freelance editor and document-production specialist. In addition, she is a Certified Wildlife Biologist with more than 30 years of experience in environmental impact assessment, threatened and endangered species, wetland and terrestrial ecology, regulatory compliance and permitting, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and wildlife mitigation. Her diverse background allows her to provide a comprehensive edit of a variety of subjects. She has edited hundreds of documents for projects throughout the United States and Canada including, but not limited to, NEPA documents; socioeconomic assessments; economic and fiscal impact assessments; housing market analyses; avian protection plans; wetland reports; stormwater pollution prevention plans; environmental compliance reports; and visual impact assessments.

John Powell

John Powell

John Powell grew up in Gunnison and is currently working for Gunnison County as the Data and Communications Coordinator. He graduated from WCU in 2016 with a double major in math and sociology. His interest in data analytics started during his time at Western where he learned about the usefulness combining math and sociology to provide insight into the world. While at WCU he gained knowledge and experience in survey writing, data collecting, data analysis, and data visualization. John has travelled around many parts of Asia and spent a year teaching English before returning to Gunnison to start working.
