The Gunnison County Health Coalition retained John Powell, Jeff Moffett and Kari Commerford to research and write the Behavioral Health Needs Assessment for Gunnison County in 2021, which was later entitled the State of the Community 2022 Report, to better understand the needs and gaps across behavioral health systems in the community. This report shows how environmental and socioeconomic factors contribute to mental and physical health outcomes. These factors include, but are not limited to, household incomes, housing and food insecurity, childcare, incomes, social isolation, home life, and access to and coordination of health services. The report intends to support the creation of a strategic plan that is solution-focused, cross-sector and based on needs of all community members.
